Exact measurements vary slightly from design to design, and lengths can vary a little with the natural movement of the chimes. For the exact size of a design, including our 60 in chimes, please see the size photos on its product page.

How to choose

  • Measure your space. Measure from where the chime will hang down to the floor, railing or anything below it. Leave a few inches of extra room so the chime can swing freely.
  • Think about the sound. Shorter tubes give lighter, higher notes. Longer tubes give deeper tones that last longer and carry further, so 48 in and 60 in chimes suit open spaces.
  • Consider your neighbors. For a small balcony or a home close to others, a 28 in or 32 in chime is usually the better choice.
  • Choosing a gift? If you are not sure about the space, a 32 in chime suits most porches and patios.

Hanging tips

  • Use a sturdy hook, beam or tree branch, especially for 48 in and 60 in chimes.
  • Hang your chime where it catches a breeze but is sheltered from strong gusts.
  • On many of our designs you can move the striker up or down to change the sound, or set it to rest when you want quiet.
  • In storms or very strong winds, take your chime down or bring it indoors to protect it.
